Gio’s Adaptive Dress

This adaptive fashion project was designed for Gio, a model born with a unique condition that renders one arm underdeveloped. This not only presents challenges with long sleeves, but with zippers, as the standard zipper is on the left side of the bodice.

After meeting with Gio and understanding her design constraints and fashion inclinations, the team decided to adapt a preexisting dress pattern tailored to Gio’s needs. This design features a shortened left arm sleeve, and a modified zipper with pull tab on the right side of the bodice. Additionally, all measurements were tailored exactly to Gio.
